The short version: Cookie isn't removing cookies.

(Happy to provide further info, if it helps!)

    Environment

Cookie Version: v6.9.2 (Online Store, Registered)

    cookie_6-license panel.png

    MacOS Version: 13.5 (22G74)

    Mac: MacBook Air M2

    Browser: Firefox 116.0.2 (64-bit)

    Problem Report

    What I Do

    1. Open the Cookie window in the advanced view.
    2. Select a cookie to remove. (line is highlighted in light blue)
    3. Press the delete key.
    4. Click Remove in the warning dialog.

    What I Expect to Happen

    The cookie is deleted.

    What Actually Happens

    1. The gray spinning progress wheel appears for a moment.
    2. The cookie remains.

The Bulk Processing Commands Do Not Work

When I click on any of:

    • Remove Non-Favorites
    • Remove Tracking Cookies

    cookie_6-button_panel.png

I get a similar behavior: gray spinning progress wheel for a moment, and then no cookies are removed.

    Things I've Tried

    • Restarting Cookie
    • Restarting the Laptop
    • Quit Cookie, remove ~/Library/Containers/com.sweetpproductions.CookieApp, setup Cookie again
    • Quit and uninstall Cookie, remove all cookie-related files in ~Library, restart, re-install Cookie

I have checked to make sure Cookie has full disk access in Settings > Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access

    Nothing has helped yet.

    Relevant Support Tickets

This support ticket seems relevant: https://support.sweetpproductions.com/topic/922/cookie-6-9-1-menubar-remove-items-remain-grayed but I couldn't get any of the steps mentioned there to fix the problem.

Thank you! I took a look at the FireFox preferences:

I can confirm that Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data > Delete cookies and site data... was unchecked.

Under History, I set it to use custom settings, and Clear history when Firefox closes was already unchecked.

After closing the setting pane and restarting Cookie, there was no change in behavior (still can't delete cookies).

I then tried restating both Firefox and Cookie, but there was no change in behavior (still can't delete cookies).

what is your Enhanced Tracking Protection setting for Firefox?
I have the standard setting, and I don't have any issues removing data...

I had it set to Strict, but reset it to Standard, then restarted Firefox and Cookie: no change in Cookie's behavior.

(Would scrubbing and reinstalling Cookie be a useful debugging step after making that change?)

A quick additional note on this: I can confirm that Cookie appears to be working normally with Safari.

there is definitely something unique about your firefox setup...
are you able to dl and try maybe the firefox beta with default settings

                  I'll try reinstalling Firefox next.

Before I change anything, is there anything else I can do to get useful debugging info from the current state?

A ha! Reinstalling Firefox did not fix it, but scrubbing all of the existing cookies from within Firefox did: after clearing all cookies from within Firefox, Cookie is now behaving as expected.
