    The update for 6.8 has problems. The update seems to fail (the app won't open after the update). The app is "running" but will not respond and does not run properly. Activity Monitor shows it is not responding. I have no access to the app via the menu bar or by launching it directly, so it can only be shut down from the Activity Monitor. I tried three times to update and had to revert to 6.7.3.

    Monterey 12.6

    6.7.4 (not 6.7.3) is what I had to revert to.

    @JML hmm,
    Strange. I always build and test on the current version.what happens if you reset sandbox permissions from the advanced tab in preferences before trying the update?

    Does that work

    I have the same issue - Cookie updated itself to 6.8 overnight and now sits unresponsive and taking massive amounts of CPU. Restarting it, and rebooting the Mac makes no difference. I tried removing the sandbox permissions which has had little effect other than Cookie now sits taking just 90% CPU instead of 200+ as before (4 core i7). This is under MacOS 10.15.7 - the latest that this 2013 MacBook will take. I am having to run with Cookie disabled now in order to shut the fan up!

    @jmh this is really odd,
    perhaps try a full reset:

    • delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/Cookie/
    • restart Cookie v6.8

    There is no ~/Library/Containers/Cookie/ but I found and deleted these:
    com.sweetpproductions.CookieApp
    com.sweetpproductions.CookieApp.Helper

    Cookie then gave me a series of questions regarding upgrading to 6 (but I must had had 6 already, right?) and asked permissions etc. but still sits spinning (55% CPU).

    Note I have now restored Cookie 6.7.4 from my Time Machine backup and it goes straight in with minimal CPU as it used to.

    Yes, I also had to revert to 6.7.4. 6.8's spinner kept on spinning. Also, ..., I have 4 browsers configured and Safari Preview seemed to have some cookie entries for Safari's cookies.

    is there any chance someone could send me an archive their ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/WebKit/WebsiteData/Default folder. It seems like there is a database type, which I didn't encounter while writing the new database parser.

    Can confirm that 6.8 has issue on my side too.
    250% CPU on a M1 Max MacbookPro and random issues with many sites.
    Can't wait for a fix as I don't have any other solution than shutting down Cookie for now (a first in years!)

    @SweetP , 6.8.1 does not fix the problem. Exactly the same behavior as 6.8.0. The updated app is unresponsive, never loads in the menu bar, and has to be shut down from Activity Monitor.

    @SweetP said in 6.8 will not run:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.Safari/Data/Library/WebKit/WebsiteData/Default

    My MacBook does not have this folder. This is all that's there:

    @JML did you try closing Safari, then opening Cookie v6.8.1?

    @JML you can also delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/Safari/Webkit/WebsiteData/Default if you're not worried about the databases. that will also get Cookie running.

    @SweetP No such folder exists on my MacBook (Monterey). This is what's there:

    v6.8.2 is available on my servers now, and will be in the App Store after review by Apple. It fixes the hanging issue without the need to close Safari on first run.
