No update notices

I have a checkmark in the box for: Check for up dates Daily. I do not have a checkmark in the box for: and automatically install, because I want do do this myself.
So far, I've never been informed of any updates. I've only been made aware of any updates is by viewing MacUpdate.
Is this a bug in the software?

@tbird301 I haven't looked at my update code for a while, but I think its checking on restart of Cookie (so as to not be very intrusive) I'll take a look at this for the next update
