• Cookie window keeps opening

This is recent behaviour, after years of use. Could possibly have come with 10.11.1, but can't be sure. Or a recent update of Cookie itself?

Anyway .. the Cookie window now seems to open and display itself on the desktop at all sorts of times when I haven't asked for it. Mainly, this seems to be the moment I quit any app. Very annoying. And since I'm running it headless, I have to use the mouse pointer to close the window again.

I also have the issue reported by others where despite having Cookie set to hide when open-end at login, it's always visible until I close it. I'm guessing this night be all part of the same issue??

    • RE: Losing login on 'Favourite'

How would I know whether a cookie is a tracking cookie?

In case it helps, here's a screencap ...

      Russell,

By timer function I assume you mean the "Remove every X minutes while browser is open" option? And by cache removal option, I assume you mean the "Browser cache" checkbox under 'Configure unwanted data'? I've tried deselecting both of those and the problem on the other forum persists.

    • Losing login on 'Favourite'

I have an account on this support forum for another app. I was getting logged out every few minutes, before realising this behaviour was likely due to Cookie.

So I made the domain a Favourite in Cookie. But sadly the logging out behaviour has continued unabated. Why???

    • RE: Facebook login

Update: A bit more testing. Now seems I can do without the "lu" cookie as well, without losing my login. So conclusion is you can stay logged in to FB by whitelisting the two cookies: "c_user" and "xs".

Knowing FB, this could all change at some future time.

      Hope this helps someone.

Update: This document: http://dragon.ak.fbcdn.net/cfs-ak-snc6/84992/979/395701387118444_1090193793.pdf may offer clues.

I've just added the three cookies" c_user, lu, and xs to the whitelist. Seems like it might do the trick. Will report back …

    • Facebook login

Does anyone know which of the 7 (currently) cookies granted unto us by Facebook is / are the one/s that store one's current login - as distinct from the snooping type ones?

I'd like to whitelist the relevant one/s, but otherwise not have FB as a favourite domain for cookies. But I've so far tried whitelisting each of the them on its own, without success (i.e. my login isn't saved).

It could be that it requires some combination of 2 or more of them. Or then again maybe Mark has it so well stitched together that separating the login from the tracking is impossible. (Surely not πŸ˜‰

Anyway I don't have enough hours in the day to keep experimenting. Does anyone perchance know the secret?
