Using a Mac M2 on Ventura 13.5.2. The screenshot below shows the highest memory usage apps and was taken without any browser running. It seems likes the memory usage of Cookie 7 is high for an app that essentially idle.

    Thoughts?

Overall, Cookie 7 is running well here on M2, M1, and Intel machines. So this is not a complaint but more of an FYI in case you feel this is abnormal.

FYI: I happen to have the M1 Mac mini on this morning for about the same amount of time as the M2. While Coolie 7.0.4 is using 426 MB RAM with Safari open. Cookie 7.0.4the M1 is only using 73 MB RAM with Safari open.

So the excessive RAM usage may be limited to the M2.

I would happy to help out if I can provide any more information from this end.

do you have a similar number of cookies on both machines. and do you have the same browsers configured?

            Good Morning

Here are the similarities between the configuration of the M1 & M2.

Both running macOS Ventura 13.5.2 and Safari 16.6.
Both have the exact same Safari favorites and 1 extension installed.

            Differences:

            The M1 has 16GB memory, The M2 has 64GB.
The machines are used for vastly different purposes. The M2 is used for general use and software development. The M1 is loaded with music production software.

Cookie 7 memory usage this morning:

Both machines started at the same time. 30 minutes after bootup and visiting the sames 6 sites on both machines:

            M1 Cookie7 memory = 76MB
            M2 Cookie7 memory = 156MB

Both machines were left idle for approximately 30 minutes:

            M1 Cookie7 memory = 78MB
            M2 Cookie7 memory = 278MB

Safari was opened on both machines and I visited the same 5 web sites with Cookie7 set to retain cookies for 4 of them.

Waited a few minutes for Cookie7 to clear.

            M1 Cookie7 memory = 77MB
            M2 Cookie7 memory = 329MB

I will continue to monitor throughout the day and report back if anything changes.

            W

Also, forgot to mention that both machines have the identical settings for Cookie7, including the same 8 web sites set for cookie retention. Also, Safari is the only web browser in use on both machines.

Maybe this just a case of macOS assigning more memory because you have more ram?

                Please keep me updated

                  PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGY!

I have found the problem and it is the app I was using to monitor system resources. As a developer, I should have known to double check this with Activity Monitor.

The app I was using is System Dashboard Pro, available in the App Store. Just now it is showing that Cookie7 is using 383 MB, but in Activity Monitor, Cookie7 is only using 98 MB.

While Cookie7 on the M1 is only using 40 MB, that difference is not at all the same as what I initially reported.

Again, my apologies for the false alarm.
