When randomizing, MAC address immediately flips back

Often, almost always, when I hit the Randomize button the address changes but then quickly flips back. I then have to hit Randomize one or two more times to actually change the address. Why is this happening?

It's been a while since I purchased and installed - I thought helper was only for the install process. Can you re-fresh me on helper?

• For the version from my store:
  Open Preferences,
  and look on the General tab if the button Install Helper Tool is active, press it to install.

• For the App Store:
