WifiSpoof worked but then stopped (iMac late 2009)
-
Hi,
I bought the WifiSpoof while using Mac OS 10.12 (Sierra). It seemed to work ok.
I recently upgraded to Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra) and now it no longer works. If I change the MAC-address I can no longer connect to my Wifi-network. It tries and tries until it gives up and I get an exclamation mark on top of the Wifi-icon and no connection. If I reset the MAC-address to original then I can connect to the network again.
The WifiSpoof version is 3.4.8. I am not sure if that was the same when I bought it in end of MAY this year or if it was updated at some point? The Mac OS version is 10.13.6. And my computer is iMac 27" late 2009 with i5 -processor (iMac11.1).
I have tried the reset-procedure suggested in other threads ie. deleting the folder in Library/Group Containers. I then reinstalled the helper app and again the WifiSpoof seems kind of work so I can randomize my MAC-address but cannot connect any Wifi-networks.
Please advice. Thanks.

It seems that this guy had quite similar problem with his 2010 iMac:

So, I am out of luck? This software does not work with these iMac Wifi-cards? You didn't answer the gentlemans post back in 2016 at all and now you are not answering mine? I paid for this and nowhere does it say it will not work with these machines.
Is it a hardware problem or related to the OS version? I can change the Wifi card and there is some tricks I can use to upgrade the OS beyond what is supported by Apple but I rather do nothing if there is another solution.

@sweetp
Well, I must say that I am not 100% sure if it actually worked with the Wifi. It did change the MAC-address for the network card en0, which I recently realized is the ethernet card. And I did have the ethernet cable connected earlier. Only later I realized I was not observing it changing the en1 (Wifi) MAC so I don't actually know if it worked with the Wifi or not at any time.So, IMO it can be one of the following:
- WifiSpoof never worked with late 2009 (or late 2010) iMac Wifi card
- it did but Wifispoof update caused it to stop working
- or updating Mac OS Sierra to High Sierra + possibly one or both things above = not compatible
