@SweetP haha no worries, glad the image upload in your forum is working again.
cache is not set to be deleted so I can safely rule that out. it seems cookies are again showing up e.g. I am seeing an entry for this forums URL. I am unsure as to what was going on initially. I think we can consider this solved. I'll ping, if this happens again with another site.
Thanks for making cookie

gentle ping on this.

I looked at the tutorial for that on https://cookie5app.com/ but it does not related to the problem I am seeing.
I disabled the timer. I whitelisted one of the services that keeps kicking me out in Firefox Security Settings (Cookies and Website Data). The issue I am seeing is, that although Firefox shows some cookies, those are never shown in Cookie. Thus I have no way of adding those to my favorites or whitelist them.
Is this a known issues?
PS: It seems attaching images is not possible. Click on image icon results in and uploading an image results in
Anyhow here's a screenshot of the cookies in Firefox which are not shown in cookie (30 days):

Looking good. Thanks for the quick fix and that on a sunday.
Make sure to also enjoy your weekend

ping on this. Russell do you have any idea how this use-case could be dealt with?

It's hard to understand what the setting does, because the text is cut off. see screenshot

Confirming as well, that with 5.0.10.8 cookie no longer shows after startup.
Thanks for adjusting the window closing behavior. So much more expected. And thanks for your quick response in this case.

in system preferences > user cookie does not show up. so it seems nothing is set there.
and another problem: should I be recieving mail notifications for replies in this thread? No mails seem to be arriving.
-
oh and another issue: when cookie window AND settings window are open, ⌘W closes both. This is highly uncommon and imo bad UX. could you make it, so that only the window in focus is closed?
-
Played with this a little. Installed 5.0.10.7, diabled and re-enable setting to make sure pref is set, but on each restart, cookie window is showing on desktop. if screensharing is helpful to debug this, let me know.
tried 4-5 restarts with cookie still on desktop when restarting as well as cookie closed when restarting.
-
on login "start cookie" (yes) and "hide" (yes) and yet on each launch the cookie window sits on the desktop.
this is a known problem with old versions but I had not seen it in the few recent stable releases. it has now returned with 5.0.10.2 (beta).

Confirming 5.0.10.2 is no longer crashing on sparkle update check.
-
I have first noticed this with cookie 5.0.8 and now continuing with 5.0.9.
Crash log is here (14 days from now): https://ghostbin.com/paste/qcamv

can you elaborate on the potential consequences? the OP asked about that and I'd be curious to learn as well.

Great, this did the trick. The gone firefox profile no longer appears in console.app.
The remaining entries are:
21.05.16 00:31:56,000 kernel[0]: Sandbox: Cookie(399) deny(1) file-read-data /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Chromium/Local State
21.05.16 00:31:56,000 kernel[0]: Sandbox: Cookie(399) deny(1) file-read-data /Users/username/Library/CookiesAre those of any concern? Can I do something about them?

Hey Russell,
whenever I start my mac with Cookie 5.0.6 installed, the console is full of messages about deny file-read-data.
Several locations are listed which seem to be a problem. Most messages are about a location which no longer exists since the firefox profile in question has been removed a while ago. How can I go about this and tell cookie that this firefox profile no longer exists?
Attached a .txt file of the console messages.

I didn't even know cookie 6 was in the making...

This persists with Cookie 5.0.2

Congrats to the v5 release. This is a question about how to use Cookie and Piwik. Piwik is open source tracking software for websites. Under it's Persona Settings at the very bottom there's an option to place a cookie so that Piwik ignores your own visits on the website it is running on. That is of course very useful.
Problem: The website in question is marked as favorite in Piwik. If I then enable the option to ignore my own visits while in Piwik backend, a cookie with the name "piwik_ignore" is placed. I then close and re-start Firefox two times. When I then re-visit the piwik backend, it again tells me that my visits are not being ignored, despite the "piwik_ignore" cookie still existing.
I understand you can not give support for third party software but since this seems to be closely related to Cookie's behavior I thought I'd ask. And maybe you also use Piwik or heard from other users with similar issues.
