you can verify, if you have access to the admin panel of a router you are connected to. you can also run these terminal commands:
networksetup -listallhardwareports

Find the Device name for your Wi-Fi to use in the next command (in my case it is “en0” - most likely the same for you):
ifconfig en0 |grep ether
