Latest update will not launch.

I have been running Cookies since 2014. I purchased it on the Apple Store. It has worked without problems until today, when I updated to the latest version at the Apple Store, on my 2015 iMac running the latest version of Sierra.
For the first time, when I launched Cookie, I got this alert.
Sign in to use this application on this computer.
"Cookie 5.app" was purchased using the App Store on another computer. To use "Cookie 5.app" on this computer, sign in usig the Apple ID and password used to purchase it.The computer on which I purchased it was my 2009 iMac.
When I fill in what I ABSOLUTELY know to be my Apple ID, the alert goes away for about two seconds then reappears. This happens repeatedly, even after a restart. I thus cannot launch Cookie5.
When I purposely input the wrong password, it returns that my Apple ID or password is incorrect.
Can you help?

There is a bug in v5.8.1 from the Mac App Store, but v5.8.2 has finally been approved, and should be available within the hour.
V5.8.2 takes me into an endless loop asking me to login into my App Store account.
Message reads "Cookie 5 was purchased using the App Store on another computer. To use "Cookie 5" on this computer, sign in using the Apple ID and password to purchase it.
What can we do to fix this?
