Automator gear in menu bar
-
Hi,
I've been a Cookie user for a long time, so naturally I bought version 5 when it came out. At first everything seemed normal, but now I notice something that I believe is related to Cookie. Although I can't be positive.
This now pops up whenever I open and close Safari. The Automator (I think) gear spins and spins but doesn't go away. Here's a picture.Clicking the 'x' doesn't do anything. The only thing that gets rid of it is to quit (not forced) a process/application called ScriptMonitor in Activity Monitor. I'm not sure if ScriptMonitor is yours or Apple's thing.
I don't think it does this every time, but it does it more and more lately. It doesn't seem to do anything bad, it just uses up a little processing power. And like I said, I don't even know if this is related to you or not. Just thought I'd let you know.

That is Cookie, because it is now sandboxed.
testheres a little background:
to effectively delete cookies, its not enough to just edit the Cookies.binaryCookies file, you also need to restart the OS cookie daemon (nsurlstoraged)
Because Cookie is sandboxed, it can't do this.
so now Cookie installs a script which can do this, and very time cookies are edited asks the script to restart the cookie daemon.
running that script causes the gear icon to show in the menubar. -
In case I wasn't clear, I wasn't confused as to why it was there. Apple certainly doesn't make dealing with cookies easy. But I was wondering why it never goes away. Once it is triggered it stays in the menu bar, spinning away, until I make it stop. Even though it says it's 100% done.
It's very possible that this is a problem with just me. And any Automator script would cause the exact same thing. I'm not concerned about it, I just wanted to mention it in case you received some other reports saying the same thing.
Thanks for Cookie by the way, it gives me a little peace of mind.

I'm seeing the same thing; spinning gear is nearly always present in the menubar. It says "100% completed (1 of 1)". It would be nice if it would appear while active, and then go away.
I'm running OS 10.11.5 Beta (15F24b)... maybe that's in play here? My version of Cookie is 5.0.5, and NOT on the beta track with Cookie.
