Desktop Utility Problem

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question.

I have DeskTop Utility on my Mac Intel running OS 10.8 Lion. It was working perfectly but now I cannot use it to Hide Invisible Files. Used it to show invisibles and now it won't go back to hiding.

Help or referral to proper site most appreciated.

Hi Nancy,

try repairing Disk Permissions:
open: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.app
select your disk from the panel on the left
select Repair Disk Permissions

if this doesn't work, you may need to restart your computer.

I'm not sure what could be wrong, I am guessing that DiskUtilities preference file has somehow become corrupted.

I did get this message when verifying disk permissions:
Warning: SUID file “usr/bin/at” has been modified and will not be repaired.

I restarted, and logged out & back in, but still can't hide the files.

Can you please help? If I can't get DesktopUtility to work, can you at least tell me how to fix the issue using Terminal commands (which scare me - thats why I got the app )

We looked for the app's plist file and could not find one. Don't know what else to do at this point.

All DU does, is run these 2 terminal commands:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool false
killall Finder

let me know if you have trouble
