No cookies visible even if websites say so
-
Hi, Since a few weeks I notice that my version of Cookie 6.3.6 dies not show any cookies being stored on my disk. The dropdown menu always is on zero tracking cookies or non-favorites.
What's the matter here and may this be malfunction? -
Is this in Safari?
If so, you need to give Cookie full disk access in the privacy tab in System Preferences:
https://sweetpproductions.com/products/cookieapp/scripts/en.htm -
This is on Firefox (88.0) and on Safari (14.0.3). I tried with C automatic removal paused and enabled.
In Firefox I use the Standard setting (Balanced for protection and performance. Pages will load normally.)
"Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" either enabled or disabled.
Cookie 6 has full disk access.
OS 11.2.3Is there anything else I should check?
Could this be a hack? -
@slalomw you could try a reset of Cookie:
- Quit Cookie first.
You can restore your settings, by first making a copy of all the files in this folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.sweetpproductions.CookieApp/Data/Library/Application Support/CookieApp
-
Then delete this folder:
~/Library/Containers/com.sweetpproductions.CookieApp
-
Restart cookie,
-
Quickly skip through the setup.
-
Quit Cookie, and replace the files you copied earlier.
Then you should be able to restart Cookie with all your browser settings and favorites. You still need to go into Preferences and update any settings you had customised (start at login, hide dock icon etc…)

Interestingly there is no such folder in my ~/Library/Containers/com.sweetproduction.....
What now? -
make you're you're looking in the user library:

Thanks for the hint. In fact I always make my user library visible first thing. I am at the right place, sorry

OK, Some searching showed me the folder .../Containers/Cookie
It is not com.sweetp.... here.
Problem solved. The app seems to "rename" the Container-folder...
Thanks, anyway.

...and deleting the old folder created a new one that finally worked.

Ah yes,
The folder nane is different on Big Sur.
Great to hear your problem is fixed.
